Verdict: lots of eye candy
In a Nutshell: This is an advanced and very shiny version of Breakout.
(from the publisher’s website)
“Shatter is a retro-inspired brick-breaking game that merges familiar action with unique twists and a modern crafted production approach. Innovative controls, physics effects, power-ups, special attacks, and boss battles which combine to provide an experience that is always interactive.”

Verdict: Beans!
In a Nutshell: An agrarian card game that encourages a lot of wheeling and dealing.
(from the publisher’s website)
“This great card game is about planting, trading, and selling beans – 11 kinds of beans (this English version includes all the cards from the original game and the first expansion). Players try to collect large sets of beans to sell for gold. There is limited growing space and always new beans to plant. To avoid planting unwanted beans, players trade them to other players who want them for their bean fields.”
Verdict: Glad I only spent $25.
In a Nutshell: Lazy gameplay design choices and overuse of clichéd mechanics nearly ruin an interesting story and some amazing scenery.
A 400-year-old clue in the coffin of Sir Francis Drake sets a modern day fortune hunter, Nathan Drake, on an expedition for the fabled treasure of El Dorado, leading to the discovery of a forgotten island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
The search turns deadly when he and his party become stranded on the island and hunted by modern-day pirates. Outnumbered and outgunned, he must fight to survive as he begins to unravel the terrible secrets hidden on the island.

It’s certainly been a lengthy delay since the last update. I’ve finally submitted a board game design (the first of several I have in mind) and I’ve missed talking about games here. Updates will hopefully be ramping up over the next few weeks. So, without further ado, here’s a feature we’re working on that will hopefully become part of a weekly update. PRELOADs will typically show up on Mondays in the future.
