Tap Tap Revenge – NIN Edition
Verdict: Nine Inch Nails!
In a Nutshell: This is a rhythm game similar to Guitar Hero to the tunes of Nine Inch Nails.
“The first-ever special edition of Tap Tap Revenge, featuring 13 tracks from the last two Nine Inch Nails albums, The Slip and Ghosts I-IV. Put your rhythmic skills to the test, tapping and shaking your way through 13 tracks hand picked by Trent Reznor himself.”

What the game gets right
Uhhhhhh … Nine Inch Nails!!!!
Pretty much “Guitar Hero” for your iPhone. The game play is just as addicting and the controls are familiar if you have played Guitar Hero. If not, don’t worry because the controls are very simple and intuitive.
The promotional challenge to win a signed guitar and concert tickets (I didn’t win) made the price a little easier to swallow.
What the game gets wrong
$5 is pretty steep for a phone app that’s based on music you may already have especially since the first one was free. Why not make the software able to use any music you have on your phone?
You really want to use your headphones to get the best experience. This is probably less of a game issue than a hardware issue.
Sum it up
If you’re an avid Nine Inch Nails fan, you can probably understand why I would spend $5 on a game for the iPhone. Listening to one of my favorite bands while playing a game centered around the band’s music … priceless. If Nine Inch Nails is not your taste, you can get the basic Tap Tap Revenge which is offered for free from the website. The basic version of the game is just as good but, there’s no Nine Inch Nails.
