Strange Attractors 2 (Demo)
Verdict: yellow spacemen are annoying!
In a Nutshell: Can’t say that I’ve seen anything quite like Strange Attractors 2. Closest I can get is pinball of the distant future meets cosmic wooden labyrinth puzzle.
“Strange Attractors 2 is an evolution of its original one-switch predecessor. In it you use your ship’s gravity drive to navigate and escape from complex labyrinths full of secrets, hazards, and antagonizing screaming spacemen.
While the game’s controls have grown to include an “Anti-Gravity” button, and a “Shockwave” attack (bringing the number of inputs to a staggering three!), the game is still completely playable (including menu navigation) with a single switch.”

Playing the game
Using the right and left mouse buttons, you attract or repel yourself from certain world elements. These elements can either be fixed, or various sizes that will move towards you as you move towards them.
Strange attractors is divided up into levels of increasing difficulty that each contain three zones. The goal of each zone is to make it from one end to the other through different rooms. In order to advance through a room, you will need to collect certain quantities of stars in order to open the gate at the end of the room.
What the game gets right
Strange Attractors 2 is really easy to start playing and understand how the game works. Add to this some helpful hints, and the only thing that seems odd is who or what the strange yellow people are that shoot at you. Where did they come from? Do they live here? Did they capture me and I’m trying to escape? . . . I digress.
The graphics and music (a.k.a. “atmosphere”) are amazing and make me FEEL like I’m in the little orb out in space (where there is no atmosphere); except I only move in 2D. But “only 2D” is a good thing as it keeps Strange Attractors 2 from from being insanely complicated
What the game gets wrong
Can’t really find anything to complain about here (other than no story. Where am I? How did I get here? Why do the yellow people hate me?) This is a solid game.
Sum it up
Strange attractors 2 is, in a word, “simple” (and in 17 words “how can this game be so complex and slick but you only need to use ONE button?!?!?!”.) In a brief conversation with one of the developers, Ominous designed Strange Attractors with people of limited mobility in mind which, to me, is a huge and noble task and they should be applauded for the effort.
I played most of the demo on “Normal” mode. Currently trying “Insane” and it actually seems easier. Maybe because there’s only one button?
One last thing to note is that graphics are a little jumpy on a laptop. O.K., now go try it out!
