What the game gets right
The graphics are pretty neat and overall the game could be labeled “cute”. At least they kept the movie theme music
What the game gets wrong
The game opens with a parody of the intro to Raider’s of the Lost Ark. Not being able to skip through the opening will have you looking for your real life LEGOs to kill time (but will probably end up making you forget there’s a game waiting to be played.)
The standard W,A,S,D keyboard movement controls (for player 1) and third-person iso-ish camera angle for this game don’t play well together and make playing very difficult and frustrating (possibly a different case if using a controller).
Other than the LEGO-ness and Indiana Jones-ness, it’s a standard action game with nothing else really to stand on.
Sum it up
If you are a big fan of the previous LEGO game, my guess is that you’ll like this one as well.
However, if this is your first real experience with a LEGO game, then don’t expect much. If the demo was what the rest of the game is like, then it’ll get old after the first level if you don’t like the humorous take on the stories.

I’ve always assumed that the LEGO series of games were targeted at children … say 6-12 yr. old. This is mainly because that’s the age group I see playing with the real LEGOs. My first thought is that if the controls vs. camera was frustrating for you, it will be doubly so for someone younger (especially around 6 yr).
How do you think the game stacks up from that perspective? Is it something a parent might consider getting as a gift for the kids?

maybe, but i think the tongue-in-cheek humor would be lost in translation. (and, you’d be surprised at how old the LEGO enthusiasts are)

I agree with this review. It was sorta fun the first play-through (I also played the PC demo), but there wasn’t much more to it after that. LEGO Star Wars is genuinely fun, and even LEGO Batman was fun and creative, but this outing in the LEGO universe seemed lacking. I’m not planning on looking into the LEGO MMORPG, either.
