What the game gets right
Having to use a flashlight that runs out of battery before you get to a place with light enough to see monsters coming is a very nice touch, making for some very anxious situations. And, when turning the flashlight off to recharge, there’s usually a nice “surprise” waiting for you when you can see again.
What the game gets wrong
Nothing really new to speak of except the “zombine” (ugh at the pun). And there were a few other places where the script made me roll my eyes so, what they got wrong would have to be that the script is weak.
Sum it up
I didn’t really know what to expect from my first episodic game but, having recently played through Half-Life 2 I was left to wonder where the rest of the game was. It definitely feels like an episode and I’m looking forward to where the story takes me in the next one, as the trailer at the end of Episode one has whet my appetite.
